About Us
Aaron Sweeney and Eddie Chaloner run the NHS vascular surgery unit at Lewisham NHS Trust, South East London. They have a thriving practice, which covers the outlying areas of Sidcup, Orpington and Bromley [over 500,000 people] and is one of the busiest in the country.
We have a special interest and expertise in varicose veins and offer the full range of options for patients seeking varicose vein treatment. In particular we have a large experience with laser treatment for varicose veins and perform approximately 50 EVLT cases per month.
Eddie Chaloner graduated from Oxford University in 1989. After house jobs in Oxford he trained in surgery in London and South Africa.
He was appointed as a consultant vascular surgeon at University College Hospitals London in 2001, moving to Lewisham Hospital in 2005.
He has a particular interest in the minimally invasive varicose veins treatment and was the first surgeon in London to use endovenous laser treatment (EVLT). With over 300 successful cases he is one of the most experienced surgeons in the UK with this way of treating varicose veins.
Aaron Sweeney qualified from University College Dublin in 1992. He trained in surgery in Dublin and London before being appointed as Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Lewisham University Hospital in 2002. He has a wide ranging vascular practice with special expertise in endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) for varicose veins and thread veins.
His main research interests are in endoluminal aortic aneurysm surgery and the use of local anaesthesia for carotid artery surgery..
